The Birnbeck Web Camera
We are continuing to experience technical problems with our webcam system and apologise for any intermittent loss of service. We try to keep this feed available to the best of our abilities but sometimes bad weather causes issues beyond our immediate control.
(N.B. - Please click at the upper right-hand corner to view the camera in fullscreen mode.)
The Birnbeck Regeneration Trust would like to thank Les Woodland of www.camsecure.co.uk for providing and hosting our webcam service.
(Awarded soon after introduction - October 2016)
Webcam Screenshots
Below are a series of screenshots taken from our webcam feed. They show the wide tidal range at Birnbeck. The first two images have been digitally enhanced; the last three are directly from the camera. Please note that the images were taken at a period of 'Spring Tides'. This means there was an extremely large range between the high and low tide states at this time - this is a regular cycle depending on the moon's position in relation to Earth and the Sun. At other times the island is not accessible by foot and attempting to crossing to the island is dangerous.

Please donate and help us save Birnbeck Pier:
The Birnbeck Regeneration Trust is entirely dependant on public support to be able to advance this project. We are currently fundraising to enable us to conduct an external Project Feasibility Study and Structural Survey of the Pier and Island. We are presently at the 45% stage towards this target. Both of these exercises are necessary requirements for the progression of the Heritage Lottery Fund application process, which we intend to advance as soon as we can.
